It was a lot of fun and I couldn't think of a better way to get my feet wet. To everyone that missed the opening you can still catch a more mild viewing <a href="http://modernscienceart.blogspot.com/2009/06/currently-exhibited-at.html">[Click Here For Details]</a>. That nuclei exit from our existence and return constantly without anyone being sure as to where it goes. This theory of matter being transient and inconstant is something I enjoy exploring in my work. </p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0in"> I use geometric objects contrasted with organic to represent what we commonly perceive as matter. However; I take these geometric objects even further into representing our existence and society on earth as being rigid, and uncomfortable. Today is one of those days. I know I haven't updated as much as I'd like, but I am working on getting good photos of all of my new projects. So I decided to get one all the way done so at least I could say I have accomplished something.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/Sik8tLVFbqI/AAAAAAAAAV8/BqfWqgghGQM/s1600-h/sythe_web.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/Sik8tLVFbqI/AAAAAAAAAV8/BqfWqgghGQM/s400/sythe_web.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343869179684810402" border="0" /></a>I forgot the name of this one. Its graphite on Bristol 19x24. Kind of illustrative and fantasy like I suppose. I am also working on some new stuff that will hopefully get done in time for this...<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/Sik9k1lysPI/AAAAAAAAAWE/B7jf9jOTALk/s1600-h/clothesline-folkscience0.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 251px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/Sik9k1lysPI/AAAAAAAAAWE/B7jf9jOTALk/s400/clothesline-folkscience0.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5343870135921979634" border="0" /></a>I'm stoked. My first non school related show where my art will be displayed. Please come.Rajihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09466648434185339405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8471345340090882928.post-27764324734862959352009-05-25T10:09:00.000-07:002009-05-25T10:41:59.810-07:00Updates n SuchWell believe it or not I have quite a few things going on. I've been really lazy about updating so let me try to remember it all. I'll start off with this -<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/ShrSECqwcpI/AAAAAAAAAVs/kRyxHAw9Ce0/s1600-h/Christopher+%28Raji%29+Purcell.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 256px; height: 400px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/ShrSECqwcpI/AAAAAAAAAVs/kRyxHAw9Ce0/s400/Christopher+%28Raji%29+Purcell.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339811275078660754" border="0" /></a>So this is one of my finished screen prints (my professor took the photo and for some reason decided it looked best with a warm saturation). This particular photo is going to be sent to a college in China (I'll update with the name and location) and printed, matted, framed, and hung there. This is for a sister city art exchange that my college participates in. The other good news about this particular print is that it won first in Graphics in the school art competition. So all and all I am pretty excited.<br /><br />Also I did some design work for a local artist whom I really admire. <a href="http://ilovegreyskies.blogspot.com/">Kim Laurenti</a> who is really amazing. It is a little poster (her concept) of her sculptures she sells on Etsy called Mooks. Click the image for a link to her store to buy one!<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25062440&ref=em"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 405px; height: 505px;" src="http://ny-image2.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.71007662.jpg" alt="" border="0" /></a><br /><br />Besides that I am going to be getting more of my figure work photographed and build a new portfolio. Also I am doing more Wacom tablet work.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/ShrUkQiJjII/AAAAAAAAAV0/8X32dpNZNe4/s1600-h/Am+I+What%27s+This.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/ShrUkQiJjII/AAAAAAAAAV0/8X32dpNZNe4/s400/Am+I+What%27s+This.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5339814027579722882" border="0" /></a>This is kind of an experimental piece. I think I found some nice techniques for the modeling, but besides that I don't really know how I feel about this. The face looks odd to me.<br /><br />I guess finally I will state that I will be attending Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota Florida in the fall. So I am gearing up for that. I am constantly looking at student work and there is so much talent there. It is going to be hard to compete.<br /><br />Anyways, I'll try and update more. I wish I had more subscribers.Rajihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09466648434185339405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8471345340090882928.post-77044739231841290162009-04-22T20:37:00.001-07:002009-04-22T20:45:46.289-07:00In Progress / DoneAnother one in progress or possibly done. I guess I should be thankful for what good has come to me. Case in point my new Wacom Tablet. I gift that me and Santa split the difference on.<br /><br />So above is what I am working on now. A kind of mix between photo and computer illustration, there will probably be some design elements in there. I am kind of just playing around to see what I can do.<br /><br />Third act of business is this new artist I stumbled upon. I'm going to add his blog on here, but his website is:<br /><br /><a href="http://www.byroglyphics.com/">http://www.byroglyphics.com/</a>Rajihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09466648434185339405noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8471345340090882928.post-81912679984780682542008-12-12T07:53:00.000-08:002008-12-12T08:10:11.907-08:00All TalkSo it appears that in my busy last two months I have not updated my blog much. If you noticed the banner (which I swore to myself I'd keep up with) still says October.<br /><br />But don't think I've been slacking in art. I've been building my portfolio, and working on a ton of stuff. My figure Drawing final for instance was a 10 piece series inspired by Ashley Wood. I really need to retake the photos of that.<br /><br />So I am going to try really hard to get some stuff posted on my down time, and also keep myself doing art. Doing Doing Doing I cannot stop...I will not!<br /><br />IF anyone has some kind of hunger to see my work, maybe this will sate your appetite.<br /><a href="http://rajipurcell.carbonmade.com/"><br />http://rajipurcell.carbonmade.com/</a>Rajihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09466648434185339405noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8471345340090882928.post-22198800285036526682008-10-27T21:25:00.000-07:002008-10-27T21:29:52.150-07:00Pomegranate<div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/SQaUiurYXiI/AAAAAAAAASY/8NO-PPod6-0/s1600-h/Color+Theory-Triad+2.jpg"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 291px; height: 400px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_HMirXixPm4s/SQaUiurYXiI/AAAAAAAAASY/8NO-PPod6-0/s400/Color+Theory-Triad+2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5262056538995449378" border="0" /></a>"Pomegranate & Rib Cage"<br />11x14<br />Acrylic and Colored Pencil on Bristol.<br /><br />Let me know what you think of this one.
